Playing Craps Live and Online
Posted by: Dave on: 30 Apr, 2010
The game of Craps is one of the most intimidating casino games.
Because of the intricacy of its rules, the multitude of available bets and the lingo used by the players and staff, new players find it difficult to approach in a live casino setting.
Craps is one of the games that players have to play in order to learn. Sure, one can read books and pick up all sorts of information online, but the truth is, in order to really get the hang of the craps action, one needs to play.
A solution to the problem would be to play craps online. Online, there’s no pressure on the player. He will not hold up others and he will not piss off anyone with his lack of understanding of what goes on at the table.
The online casino software will also offer him valuable clues to what sort of bets he can make, and it simply won’t let him do anything that’s normally forbidden in the game.
Online Craps vs Live Craps
Live craps is infinitely more complicated than online craps. Craps is played at a specially created table, which features a special layout (remotely resembling that of a roulette table). Players are required to make their bets on this rather intricate felt, which frankly looks about as intelligible for the layman as an Egyptian pyramid painting.
The game is played with two dice. The dice are required to be replaced after about 8 hours of playing in most of the casinos. There’s a special etiquette in place regarding what the players can and cannot do around the table.
For instance, players cannot put their hands onto the table under any circumstances, they’re required to roll the dice using one hand, and the dice need to hit the opposite rim of the table for the roll to count.
The team serving each and every live craps table consists of four members: a stickman, a boxman and two dealers. Online craps players won’t have to deal with any of these aspects of the game.
They won’t have to keep their hands visible at all times, they won’t have to roll the dice in a specific way. The dice cannot leave the table. In live craps, if the dice leave the table for whatever reason, they need to be inspected before they are allowed back into the game. In online craps there are no such problems involved.
How to Play Craps
Betting in Craps should come with it’s own set of instructions, because there are a lot of rules to learn and many places to bet on the table. I don’t have time to go through all of them, but I found a good site that has a craps betting strategy.
The first roll of every round is the “come out” roll. Here are some of the bets that you can make at the online craps table: the pass line, the “don’t pass line”, the Pass odds, the Come bet, the Don’t come, the Come bet odds, the Place, the Field, the big six, the big eight and various proposition bets.
Pretty much every online casino offers craps to its players. The problem is that most online casinos do not accept craps for bonus redemption. Obviously, if you’re looking to play online craps, you should pick an online casino which – in some form – accepts craps as a bonus redeeming game.
Make sure you read all the details about your online casino’s bonus before you sign up. The last thing you want to do is to sign up to play craps at an online casino which doesn’t reward you for the money you spend at the craps tables. As a matter of fact, you should also make sure you play in a casino which offers you a rakeback or poker prop like loyalty reward. The sign-up bonus is great, but you do need something to keep you going, to keep you motivated, unless you want to get fed up with the whole thing and quit.
Online Casinos that allow Craps with their Bonuses
There aren’t too many casinos that allow you to play craps with a casino bonus. One of the only ones that I know of is Bodog Casino. This is because people used to cheat on the bonus by betting on Pass and Don’t Pass at the same time. They would make the wagering requirement without really having to bet.
Bodog offers a 10% bonus on your first deposit of any size. This bonus is one of the most fair that you will find online. The wagering requirements aren’t that high and there are almost no game restrictions.
