Video Poker is an easy and enjoyable game to learn, albeit it does use terms that may not necessarily be in everyone’s dictionary. Because of this, there is the need to make sure that the terms are defined and understood well. To maximize you enjoyment and to make sure you don’t miss out on something, here are some terms that could be handy when you play.

An Ace-High is a hand that has at least an Ace in it, e.g. AQJT8 or AAKQJ. An Aces Full or Full Aces, on the other hand, is a hand that is composed of three aces, and a pair, e.g. AAATT

A Boat is another term for a full house. A Bullet is a slang term for an ace. A Bust, on the other hand, is a hand that didn’t improve after all the rounds has been dealt.

If someone asks you what a Court Card is, you can tell him that this card can be a King, Queen or Jack. They are also called Paint Card or simply Face Card. The King is sometimes called the Cowboy, while the Jack is sometimes referred to as the Fishhooks or the Knave.

A Hand is the five cards that are dealt to you. A Garbage Hand is a hand with no value and is worth holding. If you have a Rainbow, you have three or four cards belonging to different suits.

If you have an Inside Straight, that means you have four cards leading to a straight, with an inside card missing, e.g. a four straight like 4578 is missing an 6 card. An Outside Straight, is a four straight missing an outside card, e.g. a four straight 3456 is missing either a 2 or a 7 card.
